3 blogs in 1

I think that project 5 was a good idea because it is a very useful to have a resume online.  It makes it so one doesn't have to always have a hard copy of one's resume on hand, but you always have access to it because the internet is everywhere.  In addition, this project forces you to get rid of all the things in your resume that is no longer relevant to your career.  It is important to start building your resume throughout college because it is easier to go year by year than look back and try to remember everything. The only concern I have about this project is that some of the websites are "free" but then ask you to pay for using their website.  This worried me when I was doing all this work because I kept thinking that in the end I wouldn't be able to pull the website up.
There are so many things about genres that I did not know when I entered this class.  For instance, I knew that your audience was important when creating something; however, when your doing a project it doesnt always have to be for the entire population but towards a selective audience.  In addition, one has to keep in mind the previous knowledge your audience has to make sure they understand everything.  This was important to keep in mind during project 2,3 and 4.   For project 3 it was all about showing and not telling.  I have always struggled with this in the past; however, the more I am assigned this projects the better I get at them.  I believe it also helped to have read some in class to give us a rough idea on  how to do this.  Lastly, I think that project 4 was the hardest project in theory, but once you got started it came very easily.  It took me forever to come up with a way to tell a story without words, because words are a part of your everyday life.   Overall, this class teaches you a ton about different genres.

I will deffinitly use what I learned in this class throughout college/life.  I learned that writing style is not always clear cut and cannot be used with every genre.  I was always taught certain conventions were always right and this is not the case.  You wouldn't use a formal tone in a creative non fiction piece.  In addition, that is more to English than just the typical 5 paragraph essays that high school teacher make you write.  From now on I will never write a 5 paragraph essay (unless my teacher asks for it) because I feel like it brings me bac to five grade writing.  Furthermore, I will always keep my audience in mind when I am writing because if you whole goal is to get published, or even so someone actually reads your paper than you have to make a connection with them.  I think that this class has taught me a lot of valuable information that has improved my wirting skills.

Resume online

I think an online resume is one of the best ways to go.  You are able to constantly update it, keep it visually appealing and your resume can be more competitive.  With technology always growing, why not jump on board and take advantage of it. For my resume I am in between using wikia or weebly.   I looked at the video that weebly had on how to make a weebly page and I might start with this website.  You can do a ton of things with this website and still keep it clean and fresh for potential employers.

What are good websites

In my opinion what makes a good website verse a bad website is how easy you can access the information it tries to provide.  If I have to look through three different pages to get the information I will most likely not go to that website again.  In addition, I love pictures.  Especially pictures that is pared with the information on the page so if I really wanted to I didn't even have to read it to understand what kind of information was on the page.  Another thing is I really enjoy colors that are not too hard on the eyes but amazing enough to get my attention. Furthermore, I really like the websites like youtube because you can find absolutely anything on there, whether you want to find something funny, sad, serious, happy, etc.  Lastly, I do not really like websites that require you to be a member of the website first even though it is free, because they always send you spam which clogs up email.

This is a picture that has a sheet of music with two wedding bands and a flower laying upon it.  I believe this symbolizes the beauty of marriage by comparing it to the flower.

This is beethoven's 5th symphony.  Classical music does not have words, yet they all tell a story.

This is a picture of a dog chewing aggressively on a toy and then trick or treaters walking past with one of them wearing a mask that looks just like the toy then the next scene is the dog in the dog house.  Even though the author did not draw the dog going after the trick or treater, the audience can assume that is what happened.

Project 3 Proposal

My idea for the creative non fiction assignment would be the time I first drove with my driving instructor.  It was a very eventful time and I feel like I could paint a good picture of it to connect with my audience.  In addition, I think that this is a good topic because everyone has driven a car and probably has that first time driving story.  For my first time driving with my instructor we were placed in groups and I ended up getting paired with someone who played a ton of video games and I was expecting him to be really good.  However, that did not end up to be the case and I thought I was going to die when he was driving.  I am still strong leaning towards doing and audio file, however, I know there has been some resistance and if we are unable to figure it out then it is something I can consider in the future.  I do not think that there is going to be too much difficulty because everyone will be able to relate to the story and the details are so fresh in my mind that I will be able to let the audience feel like it is happening to them.

Memoir

I always hated writing memoirs in high school, because I thought that was not anything important or interesting enough to write about.  I just picked a story and faked some of the details to make it more interesting, but my grades reflected that.  My teacher's had a tendency to give me a low A because I put effort into it, however, the same comment was on all of them, "Show don't tell," or "Needs to have more meaning."  So, when you assigned this project, I thought to myself, here we go again.  Then you told us to read 'making memoir' over break and it would help with the writing process.  And it did.  As I was reading the project didn't seem that difficult.  Why wasn't this explained to me when I had to write memoirs before.  I had a million ideas to choose from, but I decided to write about my first time driving with my instructor.  This event is so fresh in my mind, it feels like it only happened last year instead of 3.  All the details are so clear and I feel like it would be perfect to write about.   I feel like this would be a good story to make into an audio file, however, is there anyway we do not have to do it in class?  I would feel weird making it when almost the entire class would be listening to it while I was making it, which would make me uncomfortable.  If not then that would be alright.

David Sedaris’ creative non-fiction

I thought that this genre is really interesting.  I have never done or seen this before.  As for the example shown in class, I really liked the music that went along with it.  In addition, he used a lot of sarcasm because I am always sarcastic.  He voice held meeting and even though it was filled with sarcasm, it match what he was saying. However, his piece was inappropriate at some points and I am not sure if I would ever listen to the rest of it if it wasn't assigned.  I think that this project is going to be difficult to start, however once started the ideas will just flow.  Also, it is going to be weird to turn it into an audio file.
